Hello all, it’s your girl, Calypso Grier, just *thinking*.

Books have a way of transporting. What’s your favorite book? I remember reading David Sedaris‘ essays–Dress Your Family In Denim and Corduroy, Me Talk Pretty One Day, etc.–and feeling like I was discovering uncharted territory in writing. I know he wasn’t the first memoir writer and won’t be the last to captivate audiences, but it struck me and stuck with me that books are truly life-changing little things.

Here at Wrought Iron Reads, our goal is to create the sort of stories that stick. (How are we doing? Reviews can help us calibrate our talents to your tastes.)  Arsen, Reatha, Sondi and I are regular, everyday people who happen to love what we do and want to share it with others.

I can admit that sometimes being a writer feels a lot like David in Paris, this eloquent English speaker struggling with French and sounding like a toddler. I find myself ceaselessly  agonizing over Am I doing this right?

The writing world is constantly growing and evolving, and keeping up with the fast pace of the changing market can be daunting. Indie writers and publishers EVERYWHERE can understand it’s no walk in the park 😉 but it’s a rewarding exercise. Kind of like lunges and squats. You hate it, but you gotta do it, and then you love it.

So, I was sitting here on my patio a few weeks ago and thinking: What’s the message we want to share?

We want you to Read Entertained. Excitement, enlightenment, love–we want you to feel like you’ve taken a roller coaster ride of emotions to get to the end, and we’re constantly striving for better. Because for us, it’s a journey, and the destination is into the hearts and minds of our readers.

I hope you enjoy this ride as much as we are. Ta-ta now, y’all! 🙂
